Penny Price's twins classes run in Reading, Berkshire and normally consist of 6 sessions on Monday evenings and one breastfeeding class. There are also occasional Saturday morning workshops.
The best time to start the course is when you are between 22 and 32 weeks pregnant.
Group sizes are kept small (up to 8 couples) and there is plenty of opportunity to chat to other parents-to-be. Many groups continue to meet up after the course has ended.
The course costs £170, which is payable at the time of booking. Have a look at the refund policy if your circumstances change.
Penny Price, NCT antenatal teacher, is also a trained nurse and midwife. She is highly experienced and able to discuss all matters relating to pregnancy, birth and the early days with new babies (though it is always recommended that specific medical matters are discussed with your own midwife or doctor). She has a wide network of contacts and will help you address the joys and challenges of having twins or more.
Courses fill fast so you are advised to book as soon as you know you would like to come on a course. Call Penny on 07772 682604 or email info@havingtwins.co.uk to find out the dates for the course most appropriate to your needs.
Details of support networks and organisations will be made available during the course. You can find links to other useful websites and articles at the bottom of this page.
There is a monthly coffee morning, usually on the Second Monday of the month 11am at the Oakwood Centre in Woodley - call Penny on 07772682604 to confirm. Everyone expecting or with young twins is welcome.

"The Having Twins classes were really helpful, we picked up so much information - from practical things to consider with two babies to tips on things like baby monitors, thermometers and buggies. The classes on the actual birth were also brilliant and very informative. I don’t think anything fully prepares you for the fun and chaos of two babies but the having twins classes at least helped us feel as prepared as possible for the birth and the issues we might face. We also met lots of really nice people to stay in touch with." "We attended both your classes and the NCT course, needless to say your classes were more relevant, relaxing and informative in every aspect. There was no comparison between the two, as you made us feel at home and were always keen on giving us all the options and facts. We felt we understood our choices much better. It was also obvious to us, from the outset that to you this was not just a job, but in effect a passion, as you shared yours and others' experience to expectant mothers and fathers. We also met some wonderful people with the same privilege of having twins and have made good friends with whom we can share our joys and challenges. Thank you for treating us all as 'family', Penny, we would gladly recommend your classes to anyone expecting twins." "On researching the options for antenatal classes available we were recommended to contact Penny and were pleasantly surprised to hear about the Reading based ‘Having Twins’ class. Despite travelling around 40 min to get to the class we certainly feel we have gained a great deal from the experience and it was worth every minute. Penny offers a thorough course that is specifically tailored just for the needs of parents expecting multiples. (Much to our relief as we had visions of attending our antenatal classes, being surrounded by parents of singletons and missing out on the crucial information that is only relevant for the parents expecting twins or more). In addition we have very much appreciated the postnatal support that she has provided and we know that we can contact her in the future for further advice and support. Penny’s experience and advice is invaluable, she engenders confidence and reassurance. Her classes are delivered with a calm and relaxed approach, which immediately puts everyone at ease. A significant advantage of attending Penny’s course is that all of the couples are in the same boat and we have enjoyed being able to develop new friendships and share our concerns and experiences together. We can’t recommend Penny’s antenatal course more highly for any couple expecting twins in the future. Thank you Penny." "One of the first things that we found out after discovering that we were expecting twins is that all the mainstream pregnancy and baby books are geared towards singleton births with the odd paragraph relating to twins. However, as we also soon discovered, twin pregnancies and deliveries are not as straight forward as a singleton x 2 but have a whole host of unique and 'different' considerations and impacts on the mum to be! Penny's classes provided us with all the missing information and the course was by far the most useful, interesting and enjoyable way of finding out everything we needed to know and expect for the twin pregnancy, delivery and post natal care. As well as having a vast depth of knowledge, Penny also created an environment where everyone was able to relax, have fun and create genuine friends amongst the group. Twin pregnancies are very different from singletons and understanding these differences and meeting other parents to be in the same situation is an invaluable experience. Penny provided us with the knowledge, reassurance, friendship and contacts we needed to ensure we were as prepared as possible in a way that reading singleton literature will not. If you are expecting twins then I can not recommend Penny's class highly enough." "My husband and I fell upon Penny's class by chance - we were thinking of moving to the nearby area, but the NCT course was already fully booked. Penny's group was recommended, given we were expecting twins. I am so glad that we did attend, making the effort every Monday evening to travel from London to Reading. I went to a few ante-natal classes with "single" expectant mothers, but it was a refreshing change for all of us to be in the same boat. It also meant that we could really focus on some of the specific challenges, worries, etc that as a "multiple" expectant mother we faced. Each evening was good fun, and thank heavens we made it to the labour/breathing talk one Saturday morning as later that evening I was "blowing on my ice cubes" when the girls decided to make an early appearance!!!! |
